Beautiful etherial piece, haunting and stark.

 

Natural hewn surface hand carved with highly smoothed and sensual polished finishes. 

 

The wood for the sculpture Sarah was salvaged from one of the 3 Heritage boathouses that are located in freshwater bay just outside of Fremantle. The Boathouses were built over 100 years ago and were renovated in 2016. During the renovation some of the old jarrah beams that were structurally unsound were removed and salvaged. One of these beams found its way the Whispering wood studio where it was transformed into the stunning sculpture named Sarah.
